In order to follow our eco-design approach, we have decided to release a brand new eco-responsible website. First of all, you are probably wondering what is eco web design?
Well, this is a new eco-responsible approach that firstly allows us to take care of our planet and secondly ensures better readability and speed of content loading for users.
Eco-web design involves certain practices that allow the environment to be taken into consideration, including digital communication media.
Today digital technology represents 10 to 15% of the world’s electricity (= 100 nuclear reactors), a figure that doubles every four years.
3.7% of greenhouse gases are emitted by websites.
These figures call into question our practices and push us to go further in this process. Our field of activity linked to cigarette butt pollution and its impact on the environment motivates us to respect the planet in all our processes , supports and approaches.
Our outdoor ashtrays as well as all our products are already part of this approach, we have re-imagined our website to ensure a certain consistency between our values and our actions.
Clearly, web eco-design means reducing the environmental and economic impacts of software by improving their design and production. Eco-designing a digital service consists, for a constant level of quality and service, in reducing the quantity of IT and telecom resources and in promoting the user experience.
We have therefore reduced the weight of our images, limited the number of pages , removed superfluous animations on texts or photos, we have also opted for a greener web host and a template that is as eco-responsible as possible.
Having an eco-responsible website means paying attention to your carbon footprint.
